Within the Diocese of Syracuse
family, there are many types of school settings. For this reason, considerable
loss prevention information and material pertinent to schools has been
developed.
In essence, this data should further
assist each school location by helping:
· Manage the risk of accidental loss from unforeseen events by developing
loss prevention programs and policies for the school involving various risks
with particular attention to property and liability issues.
· Provide the expertise, support, and assistance to schools in
developing more effective strategies and techniques for handling their loss
prevention concerns.
· Continually review and analyze activities to determine the level of
risk and liability and to advise management of potential sources of loss, as
well as recommend how to best minimize or eliminate the loss.
· Create and maintain a safe, healthy environment for all students,
visitors, and employees of the school.
· Protect the assets of the school from a catastrophic loss.

- When a student is injured, always complete the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse Catholic Schools Bodily Injury Report.
- CATHOLIC SCHOOLS ACCIDENT REPORT FORM - All School administrators/nurses should use this form to report an injury/accident.
- Send the original to the Risk Management Office, 240 East Onondaga Street, Syracuse, NY 13202; keep a copy for your records.
- Our insurance carrier for Student Accidents is WellFleet Special Risk.
- WellFleet Special Risk Student Accident Insurance Policy is a supplemental Medical Plan. The parents/guardian’s personal health insurance plan is primary insurance. In the event that the parent or guardian does not have health care coverage, WellFleet Special Risk Student Accident Insurance Plan becomes primary.
THERE IS A $500 DEDUCTIBLE WITH WellFleet Special Risk. The parent/guardian will be responsible for the $500 deductible of medical payments, after that the remaining balance will be processed under WellFleet Special Risk Student Accident Plan.
- If a parent inquires about insurance coverage, complete Part A of the WellFleet Special Risk Student Accident Insurance form and give it to the parent/guardian to complete Part B of the WellFleet Special Risk Student Accident Insurance claim form. (Note – there is a different form for a CYO accident; please use the SR-2017(W) form for an accident involving a CYO player).
